Looks like there is one Darrin on the docket this year. Will be rolling across the stage on Saturday. Black with Red interior. Lot # 1302; serial number 161001128.
I guess who ever restored the car really liked the look of the car in black.. the engine compartment looks good. The top looks good.

The Darrin sold at 145,200.00. I didn't get to see the live auction but it must have been a VERY well recent restored car.

How sad that a 23 window VW Bus!!!!! went for $159, 500 (2 vehicles after the Darrin) and the Darrin went for only $145,200. At least the Darrin's are going for quite a bit more than the 53-55 vettes, they are around $100,000.

Old hippy baby boomers have a lot of money, although their memories are shot for having lived thru the '60's!!

I just returned from Arizona, I spent all day yesterday at the Barrett-Jackson Auction. Unfortunately I was not buying just looking around. The Darrin looked very nice, although then wrong colors, but I guess it didn't hurt the selling price. I seemed that some of the plumbing on the engine was not great, looked like they got the fittings from Home Depot. A lot looked wrong on the engine. What is the history of the car, does anyone know. Another Darrin sold last week in Scottsdale at the RM auction. I don't remember exactly but it seems it sold for about the same ~140k. I did not get out to see that one. I did watch the coverage of the beginning of the auction today on Velocity. The Darrin was car number 1302, so what car do they start the show with, 1303, the VW bus. I think my son and I may be in the background when the host Chris was introducing one of the "auction insider" cars. I will have to check my DVR tomorrow.

The same Darrin that sold at Barrett Jackson Scottsdale in January is on the docket Saturday at Mecum Indy. it will be interesting to see if the seller makes money.

Not sure if it is the same car??
then why post this response?

Mecum shows it sold for $116,600.
I don't know if it is the same car that sold in Scottsdale, it sure looks like it. I took a number of photos of the car when I was at the auction in Scottsdale and other than a couple of minor differences, like the hose clamps ect. How many Darrins are painted black with a maroon interior and top, I guess there could be 2 of them up for a sale in the first half of 2018. Ir it is the same car the seller lost about #30k in 5 months.
