Title: Water Pump Leaking?
Post by: 51kaiser on June 18, 2018, 12:07:47 PM
I have a pretty significant coolant leak in the area of the water pump although it doesn't seem like its actually the pump itself. Breather hole is dry, hoses dry, t-stat housing dry so its not rolling down. The wet area seems to be where the motor mount bracket meets the block. Is there a another coolant passage behind the pump? an adapter plate maybe? Coolant rolls down the side of the block and travels rearward along the oil pan to block surface then drips to the floor. Any ideas?

There is a gasket between the water pump housing and the water pump backing plate, another gasket between the water pump backing plate and the front adapter plate (the adapter plate forms the 'wings' for the motor mount top bolt to go through, and another gasket between the adapter plate and the block.  Any one of those leaking could travel the way you describe.
