I have been collecting and saving stuff for so long I have forgot most of it. Look what just popped up!

There's an entire chapter on the Allstate in my K-F history book, BUILT TO BETTER THE BEST. $44.95 + shipping and tax where applicable, from MT Publishing, Evansville IN. You can order it off their website.

I have heard reference to people buying an Allstate out of the Sears catalog but I have also heard that the cars never appeared through or in the catalog. Does anyone have an ad or reference to the car from the catalogs?

A club member who worked for Sears for many years has stated that the cars were never available thru the catalog. Parts and accessories were, and I have several period catalogs showing everything from bulbs to seat covers for the car, but again you could not buy an Allstate from the catalog. Only select Sears outlets, mostly in the south and southwestern US had them available and the transaction needed to take place at one of them. The store then placed an "order" with the home office who then procured the vehicle. I have a paper trail of one such order and it took several weeks to for Miss Jean Stopar to take delivery of her 1953 Allstate six cylinder automobile. The car still exists and today has about 12,000 miles on it.
