I took off my headlight rings on 1953 Kaiser Traveler and found a rubber ring of sorts, hardened over the years and close to falling apart. Any reason why it's there? Do we have anything to replace it?

It's a gasket that was factory installed. It did a great job at trapping water although its original intent was as anti-rattle material. The ring is a different part number but is the same type of material used behind the Darrin headlight bezel.

I didn't know that about the Darrin bezel needing that since mine did not come equipped with one when I purchased it. Is this something the MFG. fund supplies. If not, where do I find that material. I will need some for my Darrin as well as for my Traveler!

merely take a strip of closed cell foam of appropriate width and thickness, and glue it end to end, not mobius strip type, making it the diameter of the headlight. i.e, stuff a ring of foam to close off the area between the headlight and headlight ring
