Hi looking to restore or replace all my dash gauges can someone help with that
-
I remember that on my Darrin, the original guages looked like the basic 1949-1950 Frazer without the chrome rings and with black instead of red faceplates. I remember that the tachometer inside was clearly a modified Frazer speedometer because the casting and holes for the odometer were still there. I think that the water and oil guages were electric however, though I think that the Frazer's were mechanical (?)
This is memory from the 60's but I clearly remember the speedometer shop showing me the inside of the converted tach/speedometer and laughing about Kaiser's ingenuity. He had to make a cable from the modified distributer to the tach when it broke. He said that they had just cut out part of the housing and fitted a gear there
to the shaft. Thats all that I remember about the guages.

The oil gauge, at least on early Darrins, is oil pressure fed.
I would like to determine the break point when the change to electric ocurred.

Check with Terry Zeug. He seems to have a lot of good stuff for sale since he sold his Darrin. (805) 501-9445

My Darrin was number 137 and the oil pressure gauge was electric. So was the temperature gauge. The gauges were clearly 1949-51 Frazer as I noted in my previous post with different color face plates. The inside of the tachometer still had the place for the odometer readout unit with he holes already drilled in the casting. It was clearly a converted speedometer. I think that the guage units were stamped King-Sealey but I can't be sure of that.

Good afternoon- Another cold, rainy one here in Central NY. My Darrin is #145 and has a pressure fed oil gauge. I don't know about the tach, the gauges were mint so I didn't mess with them.
