Title: Did Kaiser make a 1954 Manhattan with a split windshield?
Post by: 54 Kaiser on September 24, 2018, 08:40:14 AM
I've looked at this for a parts car but it's strange. The windshield is split like the windshield on a 1951 Manhattan.

Did Kaiser ever release 54's with a split windshield?

It's definitely a 54 Manhattan in all other aspects including the 3 piece rear window.

Any advise would be appreciated.

The early windshields will fit right into the '52-'55 bodies and that is probably what happened to this car.  Later '52-'55 cars all used the one piece windshields.

Thanks Geordie.

Looking at the windshield frame I had figured it would be possible to put a '51 windshield in a '54 as long as you had the centre post for joining the two.

But I wanted to be sure.

My own '54 Manhattan is a one piece - and looking at photo's of other Manhattans the '52 and '53 are also - so it was troubling.

Yes, all 1954 and 1955 Kaiser Manhattans were built with the 1-piece windshield.  Kaiser-Frazer tried to keep up with others in the industry as much as possible.
