I am needing a master cylinder and some brake shoes for my 51 henry j. I am sure I will need more items in the future so any info on good reliable part sources would be helpful!! Thanks!!

Go to your local NAPA store and they should be able to help you get the parts that you need.

The master cylinder is a Wagner 2796 or EIS2796. The repair kit is Wagner 11300, United 137, NAPA 137 Master.
Note, if you use a kit, the new "plunger" that has the adjuster on it may be a different length so use the original otherwise your brake pedal may not return after you push it down.
The brake shoes are all #51
Other notes, the front wheel cylinders are 1" and the rear are 13/16" so don't get them mixed up.
Front cylinder is a NAPA 9004, repair kit is NAPA 106 or Wagner 5381
Rear wheel cylinder is Wagner 10028, kit is Wagner 12009 or NAPA 610.
The Henry J has cast iron cylinders with aluminum pistons so if the car is not driven regularly, they do sieze up and may have to be driven out with a punch. Filling the master cylinder can be a little tricky too. I always remove the driver side front wheel and reach in behind the frame and remove the cover - fill with a syringe. I then put a very light coat of wheel bearing grease in the threads of the cover and put it back on finger-tight only. This makes it very easy to remove to refill which I have to do every spring. You can also get a remote filler which is a big help.
Front brake hoses (and these are always bad as they shrivel and shrink shut over time, try blowing through one or pushing a thin piece of wire or ice pick through it, I can just about garauntee they're bad) are NAPA 105-1049 or Wagner FC-10491
Rear hose is United 655 or NAPA 36091

Also, this is a great piece of reference for Henry J restoration/maintenance -

Fid, The part numbers that you referred to, are they the same as the 53 Henry J 6cyl? Thanks Kyle

Yes they are. The J I installed all of these parts on is a '53. Best of luck

hoss seems to be living around 1980. NAPA does have parts for HJ & Kaisers, but the listings (HJs and Kaisers no longer exist, right?) for the parts are no longer in their paper or computer catalogs. You will have to TELL the counter people the parts you want.

I bought tune-up and brake cylinder parts for my '53 HJ as recently as 2004 and they were listed in the NAPA catalog they had behind the counter. The listing was under "Kaiser" with a model "Henry J." That may have changed in the last 5 years but they had it at my local NAPA at that time. Of course, they are not going to have all parts for KF listed.
