Can body cushions be replaced with the body on the frame by taking out all the bolts and raising one side of the body an inch or so and then doing the other side?
-
Have you made an attempt at this? I would like to do the same for my 49.

Haven't yet. Can't find a body shop or restorer willing to give it a try. Too old to do it myself

Sorry it took a bit for me to reply to this. I saw this post last summer and was going to reply but I forgot until today when I was looking through some pics of my Allstate restoration.
I don't know if the Kaisers would be similar but I'm guessing they are.
I was able to replace my body to frame mounts no problem. I just did them one at a time and it was not too bad.
I put the car up on stands. Then remove the body to frame bolt, then using two pry bars, slid one in on each side of the mount. The using another large screw driver, I push the old mount out - they were so crumbled it was no problem pushing them out! Then simply pry up on the bar (and in most cases I didn't even need the pry bar as the other mounts still being in place kept the gap wide enough. I think I had to lube a couple of them with GO-JO and then pushed them into place. You can line the hole up using a screw driver down the bolt hole, through the hole in the mount then wiggle, wobble it into place. Replace the bolt and torque to spec. Repeat for all others.

Mount removed
New mount installed
It made a huge difference in how the car rode and after replacing them, the doors shut very easily and stay latched too!

Thanks! Glad to hear that it can be done this way. Have to wait for warm weather now.
