Title: Brake pedal spring

1953 HJ Corsair Deluxe
I found this spring (in red) coming off of the operating rod pin and attached to the bottom of the floor. Is it supposed to be there, or did someone add it for some reason in the past?

That's the way all of mine are.  Spring around the master cylinder pivot "pin" and hooked into a slot in the floorboard.
