Title: 52 & 53 wiring harness
Post by: R-Sargent on January 09, 2011, 08:14:15 PM
I have an nos chassis wiring harness 213623 , parts manual says its for 52 deluxe and manhattan 3speed stick. I have a 53 manhattan also with a stick but according to the parts book it takes a different harness.     My question is these two cars look to be the same configuration to me ,same dash, tailights ,parklights etc. so what is different that i would have to modify to use this 52 harness on my 53?

A bit odd-according to the manual, the '52 and '53 Manhattan wiring diagrams are the same, and it is the '52 Deluxe that differs from the others. In another section, however, it mentions that '53 models have a new directional signal connector plug, cigar lighter lamp, and trunk compartment lights.  It would appear that these three items might be the ones that you would have to look at, particularly the directional connector. Would seem a fairly minor modification at most. The harnesses would appear to be functionally the same, but with varying details at the ends.
