Title: cold weather start
Post by: Barnum on January 23, 2011, 09:17:46 AM
It is -29 here this morning....I was concerned that the antifreeze in my 54 may need to be added to...so I decided to move the car to my semi heated garage...it was zero and the car started right up on it's own 6v system. Now that I have it here....wish it was spring !!

Wow, that is cold! You must be in the midwest somewhere. Here on the Atlantic coast it is currently -13C, which is about +10 F--and also bitterly cold....for here.  -17C is about 0 F by the way, and the absolutely coldest temperature I've experienced in PEI is -25C on Boxing Day, 1993. I have to get out and start up the 57 and 63 Studebakers today, and let them run up and down the driveway for an hour

Zero degrees here and everything in the garage started when I tried. The Jeepster, as usual, took a little coaxing but it runs!

Mid 60s in Texas yesterday  ;D.  However, being from Northern Utah, I do know what cold is.  I remember looking at our thermometer one day and it read   -37 F.  Some winters we would have stretches where it never reached above freezing for a month, with high temperatures sometimes only 10 or 15 F.  I'm happy to be in Texas!

Ah well, it's back to winter in East Texas: rain and 40 degrees. There was one winter about 8 years ago where there was never a heavy freeze. Since then it has been disrespectful of Al Gore's Theories.

And today it's REALLY cold in central Texas: 17 this morning, and the Dragon started right off the bat with its 6 volt battery.  I did have to put some cardboard in front of the radiator, as I was driving on the freeway and could only get the temp barely above the COLD marking.
