Title: Service Bulletins
Post by: pnw_oldmags on March 22, 2011, 05:01:30 PM
If anyone is interested in collecting KF Service Bulletins here is a link to a very good list of what K-F Service Bulletins were issued.

Someday I might scan them all and post them but not today.

I wonder what all of those Service Bulletin binders have in them.  I have a pretty complete set that I got from upgrading about ten bulletin binders and even with all of the updates they still fit into two binders.  Willys is in another binder.  They must have other than Service Bulletins.  The index is for service bulletins.  Thanks for making it available.

I put protective sheets on each page so it took one binder per 100 so four of them are KF Service Bulletins, One is KW Bulletins, One is Willys Bulletins and the other two are Accessory Bulletins.

Willys-Overland periodically put out service information and updates to dealers.  They were on yellow paper with black type and included serial numbers for vehicle types involved in running changes.  In the summer of 1951 they augmented the flow of information with a monthly publication, WILLY'S SERVICE NEWS.  This publication stopped after July 1953 but returned in August 1955 under the WILLYS SERVICE & PARTS NEWS banner.  I have a number of issues of all three types of publications.

Thanks for the list, Jim.  It is interesting to see what concerned the factory after the cars had been in the field a while. I guess I need to get some of these.

If you wish I will bring the set to the Spring Meet for your inspection.

I'll also have mine at San Diego if anyone wants to go through them.  They are quite interesting.  I'll also bring a collection of almost 500 factory photos that show some unusual prototypes and production products.

I recently revised the "directions" pages included with the service bulletin cd. I have all the numbers of different types of SB in the discussion. Anyone can access this revision at my google docs site. This is the first time for me to try this so let me know how it works for you.  https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B6OTEWZeAT9dYTgyOTc3ZGItZGZmMC00NTA1LTlhYWYtNzljY2I2MjVkNTc1&hl=en&authkey=CKLQ2fAH (https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B6OTEWZeAT9dYTgyOTc3ZGItZGZmMC00NTA1LTlhYWYtNzljY2I2MjVkNTc1&hl=en&authkey=CKLQ2fAH)

You should know that the Service Bulletins in Ben's Project are images - think of them as photographs you can read. As such, you can not search for words or terms in an individual SB. Thus, the indicies and keywords are how you locate what you are looking for.
