I saw that Kaiser Bill recommends using only ethylene glycol antifreeze and not dexcool, or any universal antifreeze. I was wnting to flush my system since I have a lot of buildup of brown goop around the radiator cap area, and I was wondering if one of the self flushing products you can pick up at auto parts stores would harm the system at all. If so, how would you go about flushing?

I believe the proper way to flush the cooling system is with a Flushing gun

How would you setup this gun for use??

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure.
I just googled radiator flushing gun for a visual representation
If you have the maintenance book for Kaiser cars, at least the 1951 edition, they show a KF tool which was a air gun hooked to an air line that utilized the compressed air and water to flush the cooling system...

I have used distilled vinegar 1 gal in the radiator and topped off rest with water as a strong cleaner and for a not so plugged system washing soda mixed with water then just drive around for a while then when the engine is cool flush the system with the garden hose. Then I use a 70/30 mix ethylglycol and distilled water mix.
