Got my set of reproduction KF keys in NC from Richard Hansen this week and folks let me say they are very high quality and well made!!! I'm VERY happy with them. The "K" key for the ignition and the Yale key for the trunk and glove box are perfect reproductions, and NOT cut and used like those being sold on e-bay. I'm been looking for uncut keys for years and they are not out there!
I hope this project is supported. It takes special people to undertake and complete something like this for our cars and we should not ignore their efforts...you will not be disappointed! The set is $20 postpaid and the information to order is in the bulletin.
I know there will be many members who think "hey, they'll be out there when I need them." Sadly, many are the same members who are looking for 51-53 steering wheels that the club did years ago! When they're gone, they're gone!
Thanks to Richard for taking the initiative for getting this done. PS, I don't know Richard and have never met him...this comment is my own opinion and was not solicited!
Kaiserly, Mike

These keys were first offered at the San Diego convention and I bought a set there. They are perfect reproductions and as Mike says if you are thinking about them go for it. You will not be disappointed and who knows how long they will be available.
-
Could you tell me, is the "K" key made of aluminium like the original? I do plan on buying at east one set, thanks.
-
Both the Ignition K Key and the round trunk key I purchased in SD were made of aluminum and looked just like the originals people had for their k-f cars in he parking lot ... just not so warn out.
-
It is my understanding that they are better than the originals in that the metal used is harder and will not wear out nearly as quick. I bought a set!
-
OK, so here's a question (as I've never owned one of the early cars), if these keys are correct for the 51-55 cars, what was used on the 47-50 KF's?
-
Key blanks were supplied by a different vendor and did not have the "K" used on 1951-55 Kaisers or the "F" used on 1951 Frazers. Henry J automobiles also used the "K" blank for the ignition. Be advised that as with any key blank, if you do not have the bitted information for the particular lock, you run the risk of having a matching key cut and not work depending on how worn or bent your old finished key is.

REPRODUCTION KEYS. WHEN THEY WERE REPRODUCED WE ALSO HAD THEM POLISHED AND PLATED SO THEY WOULD HOLD THEIR BRIGHTNESS FOR MANY YEARS , ( while people fondle them in their pocket and not have the metal rub off on their fingers or clothing

Mike,
Are these keys used for the Darrin as well? Please advise me.

Borrow a friends key, Any key ign. or trunk from a Kaiser or HJ 51-55 what matters is the slots in the shaft of the key blank. yours truly, Richard

I am a member but I couldn't find the info here. It was easier to ask though. I guess I'm not really a man as I had to ask for directions?

Just had my key set cut off my "master" key the other day, and they work great! I am only going to use them for shows and will forward them on to the next owner when that time comes. I had other ones cut also and now have a bunch of keys which I can use to spread the wear. They don't cost very much, so why mess up your "master" set?
-
I received my set today. WOW, they are great. I will order a extra set soon for my next Kaiser, haha. Make sure you get a set while they last. I don't know how many sets Richard had made, and don't know him personally, but I am impressed with the quality. Thanks for making these available.
-
What's the ordering info for the keys and does anyone know if you can pay electronically? I'd like to get a set and have them delivered to my dad's house since I am overseas for an extended period.
-

I received my keys and had them cut at my local hardware store, using the old very worn keys that I got with my car as the templates. They work perfectly! Thanks Richard.

Had enough made for 1/2 the members as everyone does not have 51-55s and not everyone that is a member owns a Kaiser. I am running a special for Christmas stocking stuffers then probably won't advertise again until later in 1012,I still have 2 Kaisers to finish and run the Blueberry Farm
