Title: Darrin ebay auction - check it out

For those of us who have never seen a Darrin (like me) I thought this was a nice auction. I have only seen Darrins in coffee table books and Langworth's book.  I found it interesting to see the data plate say "Willys Motors Corp" instead of KF. Thought that was interesting.  Also, this is the 2nd time in one week I have seen 999/888.  I looked at the interior photos of this car and the exterior and see nothing special order about it. So, as a novice KF'er I am guessing ALL Darrins had 999/888 on the data plates.

I'd never seen a Darrin interior.  I assume that dash design and execution was Dutch as well as the body.  Anyway, nice clear photos were a treat and noted only one winning bid at $59,000 and only 126 views on the ebay auction. That's kind of sad. Contrast that to a typical muscle car where the views run into several thousand.  What's wrong with our world today?

The 999 on the paint is because of the color. The Darrin was available in 4 colors - White (Champaigne), Red, Pine Tint (green) and Yellow. The light blue paint warrants the 999 paint code.
I'm guessing the 888 trim code is due to the white fabric as I have not seen a Darrin with white upholstery.

The car sold for the buy-it-now price of $58K which I thought was a steal. Restored, it'll be worth 3 times that...

The Last 25 Yellow cars came with white interiors - 59000.00 for an unrestored car is quite good - with "paint jobs" on a rust free steel car running 10000.00 you are probably looking at 15000.00 - 20000.00 in paint and body work - alone.

Thanks for the clarification on the white interiors Mitch.
