I found a picture of my Darrin for sale on ebay - back prior to the 1980 national John Haller and Keith Zimmerman displayed cars at the Minneapolis Auto Show. Here is my Darrin back when John still owned it.

I worked in a gas station in Minneapolis in the early sixties (driving a '52 kaiser Carolina) and John
Haller used to stop by in his Darrin and it caused quite a stir among the people coming in to gas up!
If I remember correctly he had put dual exhausts on it and it looked terrific.

It didn't have duals when I bought it. But still can create a stir at a gas station. It doesn't pay to be running late and have to fill, you will never get out of there in time.
It is just a fun little car. and it doesn't matter where you drive it, You will be the center of attention. last year at the Labor Day Hudson show at Aquator Park in Blaine I brought it and was placed in the 2 seater sports car class - which was basically is the Corvette Class - there was a Guy with a 67 427 tri-power roadster - Black and red that I think bit his tounge as he congragelated me on my 1st place trophie!
The last few years that John owned the car they didn't drive it that much. Then when I bought it I put over 3000 miles on it the 1st year alone. Somebody asked John if he had regets selling the car and he said no - that he was happy to see that I had it and was enjoying it.

I remember shortly after we moved to Minneapolis (Bloomington to be exact), circa 1976, I was out in the yard playing baseball with the neighbors when John Haller drove by in the Darrin and everyone stopped and stared as he glided around the corner and into our driveway. We stopped the game and everyone ran over to our house to look at it. All the neighbors came out and gathered in our driveway and John never made it to the front door! A few years later Keith Zimmerman brought his Darrin over to our place so my dad could fix the overdrive in it for him. It was hard making progress because even though the car was in the garage and jacked up, it seemed everyone who saw it had to stop and ask questions! They are attention-getters that's for sure.

We have a large cruise in near me that routinely draws 500-600 cars on a Tuesday nite. Once a year, they have Corvette nite and everyone turns out for that show. I timed a drive in my Darrin to arrive about a half hour after the show started and managed to find a spot just about in the middle of things. Needless to say, everyone wanted to see the car and the guys with 'Vettes near my car were not happy that everyone passed theirs for mine. Talk about a great feeling! Unfortunately, I had to sell the car to help my daughter out, but it was the right thing to do. Still, I'll never forget that nite!

Found this picture that John had taken, meet Cheryl!
It was funny John always said he had a poor memory, But I could always ask him the name of the model, he would smile and say Cheryl!

Found another picture today.
This was shot probably about fall 2007 - John and Ione Haller with their former/my Darrin.
