I would like to remove the door pnl but cannot see how the inside handles come off. Thanks again, Henry.

Assuming the originals are on the car and intact, and look like these -
(http://i.ebayimg.com/t/1952-54-HENRY-J-INTERIOR-DOOR-WINDOW-ESCUTCHEONS-SET-4-VERY-RARE-/00/s/Mzc1WDUwMA==/$(KGrHqV,!hEE5ov!8PF2BOikVSlqnQ~~60_12.JPG)
Press in (toward the door panel) on the rubber escucheons to expose the area where the handle fastens to the spindle. It may be easier to use a small flat blade screwdriver and pry lightly on the metal ring to push it back. When pushed back, the part that fastens to the spindle will be exposed. There, you will see a hole with a pin in it. Use an ice pick or very thin phillips screwdriver and push the pin out. The door handle/window crank will come off. Re-installing the pin is the fun part! Actually, it's not too bad on the '53 J as it has the soft rubber escutcheons unlike the '51/'52s which have hard plastic.

Thanks again fid, I am not supposed to be working on it(redoing our 57 Chevy wagon) but whenever I walk past it I cannot help myself. I am in the process of ordering some CD's of the shop manual etc from Tom Stradt .

Door/ window handles removed quite easily, thanks. I am used to the spring clip style.
