I was reading about the person who has (perhaps) the LAST NOS 1958 Packard station wagon licence plate light. It seems he had the second last and sold that some years ago. It came up that this company makes one-off recreated emblems--and they have it waiting to redo when they get orders.
They have the Kaiser Darrin horn button for $225 --its a terrible picture, BTW

Here is the one I'm wondering about.
http://emblemagic.com/myimages/emblempics/unclassified/KaiserSW.jpg
They are classifying it as "1949-50 Kaiser steering wheel hub" (ie, horn button) which it isn't I don't think, unless its for a HJ. "3 7/16" dia. polished stainless with "K" includes backing assy. with spring clips to snap on. NOS pc." $150.00
Good or bad price for this part?
On their site, they also do cloisonne. Some other KF parts in #1, #6 and #10 (the tag numbers don't match the # numbers)

I see some unrestored "Je Suis Pret" in there! Wouldn't hurt to ask how much to reproduce or restore. Is this the company that did the Frazer emblems last time around?

It's a filler plug that was used on the 52 HJs (and maybe later units). It replaced the tail light assembly when they were moved to the top of the fins. $150 is about double what they normally bring...although an NOS unit is rare. What's rarer though, would be the same for an Allstate. They're blank (no K).

Jim, these filler "plugs" are for the rear tail/brake light holes from the 51 rear on the 52-54 HJ when the tail/brake lights were moved up and into the top of the fenders. They are very seldom found in NOS and were bad to rust out so "used" ones are usually like swiss cheeze.

haahaahaha...guess I was typing during your post Mr. Lape!!

Last time I saw an NOS one it sold for over $150. I know that because I was outbid! And that was several years ago. That is a very tough part to find. I have found a couple nice ones which I plan to use next spring when I get my '53 J out again. An NOS one should still have the black paint on it.
Here's what they look like on a car

Yes...plugs for the taillight holes. Brain failure there. I had sortof thought that was a decent price for an NOS one as all the used ones are rusty.

Here is a pretty nice one ...

I was updating my post the same time you posted Jim. To answer your question - yes.

I guess I must have gotten lucky...I bought an NOS unit...along with a real nice used blank (Allstate) unit about a year ago for less than half the asking price for the one described above. I think I'll check in with the guy I bought mine from to see if he has anything else KF!

Like your namesake, you seem to have a touch for finding or doing the right thing at the right time. I won't call it luck, but you do have the touch.
About that particular one offered up by that site, I noticed that they have other 'blanks' for other makes, including ones that appear to be original and that were never completed with paint or enamel. I myself think it unlikely but (usually very) small caches of uncompleted parts do turn up from time to time, possibly from private 'collections' of former employees (and their estates) of the outside companies which were doing up the parts for the manufacturer.
(I myself picked up from such a completely unexpected source a pair of NOS and COMPLETELY unobtainium pot metal "check marks" that were only offered for two years on an extremely rare and extremely specific Studebaker sedan model--1956-57 "export luxury 6 cylinder short-wheelbase Presidents" W6 models--so rare that even the museum was unable to find any further information on these unknown W6 Regal models--which seem to not exist except for one reference in a parts book and some pictures of at one time extant cars and ONE German and ONE French ad each)
Did KF do up these pieces themselves for the HJ and Allstate? I am trying to judge the likelihood of part like this being NOS but unpainted...
