Post by: Fid on December 11, 2011, 07:52:36 PM: We just drove by Country Classics in Stauton, IL the week before THanksgiving. I saw the Hudson from the hiway but I didn't see the KFs. I always liked buckeye maroon on the '48 Kaiser.

Its missing the side script, but everything else from interior and window trim and wide rub bars seems like a Manhattan to me. (I know the lower rub rails could have been added on by someone dressing it up) What am I missing??

As far as that 47, what an optimistic and unrealistic asking price! Dropping a "0" would be a good starting point.

I think it is because...
- No front bumper guards or bumper end trim.
- No rear bumper guards
- No door window trim (outer)
- No lower stainless body mouldings
- What looks like HJ inner door handles and window cranks (used on the Carolinas)

I'd say it's a Carolina!

Post by: Fid on December 13, 2011, 06:46:44 PM: I didn't see any rub rail moulding around the bottom anyway. The interior looks just like a Carolina to me. Very similar to a Henry J. The fact that there's no badging on the front fender flank also indicates it's a Carolina. It does have Deluxe/Manhattan headlight trim which a Carolina would not have had but it too could've been added. A Hydramatic is rare in a Carolina too but I know of at least two of them with Hydramatics and the tags indicate they were original.

The sides of the seats and the doors, if you look closely, are done in Burma Brown dinosaur vinyl. The dash is grey metallic. Carolinas weren't trimmed this way. My 53 Deluxe has this same interior.

Post by: Fid on December 14, 2011, 08:45:09 AM: Del Fankhauser of Stillwater, MN has his Carolina at a lot of the same shows/rallies I attend in the summer. The interior of that SF car looks just like what's in Del's. The model number will be the telltale.
