Title: Henry j hood hinge question

Ok. on the hinges there is a strap that has been welded to the assembly for the spring end to attach. Is that strap originally painted black or was it zinc color. Thanks for the help.

I have an NOS hinge and the entire assembly is natural (or zinc) color. There is no spring attached so I can't tell you what color is should be.

I have found out that the early '51 hinges were different from the other years.
The early ones had that long arm welded to the hinge assembly, the later hinges were spot welded and then the unit was zinc plated. I still have not found out if the early hinge spring arm was painted black.
