I guess I have to wonder.  Why not post the information out of KFOCI Handbook version 4.0?  All the information is already there and every KFOCI member has a copy; older members got it in the 2009 mailing and newer members should get a CD in their new member packets.  It can be printed out if you want the info to take with you places (junk yards, car shows, etc).

I joined in late 2010 and never got a new member packet in the mail. I didn't even get the monthly mailers until I complained. I would like to get that CD for sure. Who do I contact for that?

I would suggest starting with either Membership Manager Deb Wilson, or Mike Neubecker.  If they cannot help you, they should know who can.

Does anyone know what the Trim Codes followed by a "-A" like the one attached signify??

As your Historian would say .... READ YOUR KF HANDBOOK.

In the Body Tags section I found this little gem.

As  Version  4.0  of  the  HANDBOOK  was  in  finalization,  a  review  of  1949-50  model  year  cars
indicated  a  number  of  vehicles  with  a  “-A”  after  the  trim  number.    The  review  noted  that  the
upholstery used in these cars was not the regular upholstery for the series.  For example a 1949
Kaiser  Special  with  an  upholstery  that  was  listed  for  the  Kaiser  Deluxe  instead.   It  is  believed
that key dealers or distributors could swap upholstery between series.  At this point, no factory-issued document has surfaced to confirm this.  Such automobiles do not usually have a SPEC-FO number to indicate special order, only the –A at the trim spot.

After version 4.0 of the Handbook came out, it was found that other model years sometimes had an A after the trim #.  In the case of some Henry J's it reflected fold down rear seat vs. a fixed back seat (so upholstery was installed different on the back seat with a different cut).  In the case of Kaiser Carolinas, I can only guess as the Confidential Bulletin announcing the series does not show "-A" on the trim number listing (all Carolinas though were listed with the same trim number for 4 doors and same for all 2 doors regardless of color).

This is a pic of the material on the seats.
Does not look like Contemporary to me.

The best thing is to check it against other Carolinas.  If the fabric reflects a later re-upholstery job, other Carolinas will look different.

Great -  Where should I go to see other Carolinas which have not been redone.  Is there a source of the "Contemporary" material Samples.  Was the Contemporary material used in Deluxes??

Check with Del Fankhauser in Stillwater, MN. His contact info is in the roster. I saw him at a swap meet on Sunday so I know he's around. I think he redid his around 2000/2001 period. He may have some ideas.
