John Kepich has completed reproducing the 51 Frazer script for the sedans and Manhattans in polished 304 stainless steel. They shine like chrome and are beautiful. Will never rust or pit.

Mike and John....FANTASTIC! Thanks for all the effort and the time to get this accomplished was super fast! They look great.
-
I ordered mine today!

Mike, the fellow here in town who has that '51 Frazer that my dad and I restored back in the 70s, still has the broken 'Frazer' trunk script which was on it when we got it. I'm going to inform him that a re pro is now available! That's great news. I can't guarantee he'll buy one but I'll let him know they're available.
-
Just be aware the reproduced Frazer script applies to the '51 Hardtop and Convertible; the sedan is different. The one on my sedan is broken and in talking to John Kepich, he indicated they as well could be reproduced but he would need a sample. The sedan Frazer has a very long F-to-r on the script.
The sedan had only Frazer while the hardtop and convertible had Frazer and Manhattan.
-
You are correct Doc. The Frazer standard trunk script is different than the Manhattans and Vagabonds. Mike your initial post states they were produced for "sedans and Manhattans." Is this the case? As Doc points out, the sedan has a big long script, probably the longest script I've seen! Please clarify and I try to make a sale possible.

'51 Frazer sedan script. You can observe the missing section between the "F" and the "r."
-
And the hardtop/convertible
-
Click on the photos to enlarge and compare them side-by-side and you will see the difference.

Fid, sorry if my communication wasn't clear. No, the truck "Frazer" script for the sedan isn't available CURRENTLY but John can make one if he has a sample.
I was referring to using the trunk "Frazer" script that is now available (also used on the trunk of the Hardtop and Convertibles) on the rear doors of the sedan. Isn't that what was used? Correct me if I'm wrong on the sedans, I'm away from my parts books.
Fid, I'm sending you pics of the available script for clarification, but it won't help your friend who needs the "Frazer" trunk script (at least until someone furnishes John a usable sample).

I'm going to take a look in the next few days and see what all is involved in removing the sedan Frazer trunk script. When I talked to John yesterday, he didn't seem to think the missing section out of mine was a problem since I will be able to provide both pieces plus the dimensions, which of course is critical for the mounting holes. The sedan trunk script (as you can see from the photos I posted) is different. Depending upon where mounted, the scripts are held on by barrel nuts through the front side or by "nuts" as such on the back side (or in the case of one of my cars by black weather stripping cement....hey, it works!).
-
Thanks Doc. The picture of the Frazer with the broken trunk script looks just like the one we had and the script is broken in exact same place! There's something to be said for consistency I guess. That would be great if he could do a couple. I might even just buy one for this guy so I can look at that car without being bothered! Let us know how it goes.
-
Once repro'd in stainless will eliminate the fragility of pot metal breaking and any flaking off of chrome down the pike.
-
Wow...that's a pretty good gap of missing script! :'( Surely someone can provide a solid sedan "Frazer" trunk script for the project. Other than the outline dimensions, the rest of the condition doesn't matter.
::)
-
It would be great either way Mike, and don't call him "Shirley"... ;)
-
Upon closer examination of the trunk Frazer script it appears that I have a section of the "r" missing as well; the "r" is broken in half. The outer two pins are accessible from inside the trunk but the middle two are not which means the middle two studs will have to be short as original or through holes will need to be drilled through the trunk. Having said this, I have removed the script from the trunk and in the process of emailing John Kepich that I will be sending it as sample. I have the stud spacings marked and believe the first broken "r" after the "F" in Frazer will be the same shape as the last "r" in Frazer except it will need a long horizontal section to connect. Once unpacked and looked at, I believe this script will work just fine. Gonna give it a try. Press on. Forward ho!

Way to go Doc...you the man!!! 8)

My reproduced Manhattan scripts arrived today and they look great. I have not received word yet on the Frazer sedan trunk script or where John may be on that.
-
Glad to hear they came out great Doc! ;) John does nice work. I hope the club members take advantage of their availability. That will encourage him to continue to reproduce hard/impossible to find script. 51 Frazer script...how rare is that stuff to find? I've never found any in 20 years! :o
-
I haven't found any in 40 years Mike!
-
John just emailed me the '51 Frazer sedan FRAZER script I sent him is workable so we will have that available soon. This is great!

I believe this is the one for the sedan> http://www.ebay.com/itm/1951-FRAZER-TRUNK-SCRIPT-STAINLESS-STEEL-REPRODUCTION-/230842820100?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35bf4de604&vxp=mtr

There was an article in some recent publication about Kepich but I cannot recall where I read it. Something about the business changing, building lease, just cannot recall. Might have been an orphan car club publication or something like HMN, OCW, Auto Restorer, et. al. But it was within the last few weeks.
I've googled and found nothing.

I contacted John Kepich yesterday by email and he indicated they will relist the scripts on ebay. I acquired several Frazer scripts for the doors and the trunk as well as the Manhattan script. Excellent stainless repros.
-
New ebay link for Frazer script. This looks like the one for the doors.
