Title: Light bulb source for 6 Volt
Post by: 84RabbitGTI on October 19, 2013, 05:17:51 PM
I was looking for LED light bulbs for my '51 Kaiser and came across this link as a source for light bulbs for our cars.  The old stock of bulbs that are still out there can be bad due to the glue disintegrating over time.  These are apparently new bulbs.  They also have advice for using 6V halogen headlights and LED bulbs in our cars and the prices seem pretty reasonable.

For the LED's, make sure you read up on their draw backs and requirements as they may not work as expected if you get the wrong bulb.  For the turn signals, it looks like you have to have a "dummy" load to create the extra current load that the flasher relay requires to work properly, for instance.  Also, the light from an LED has a much tighter wave length than an incandescent bulb, so a white LED will not work well in a red tail light lens.  There isn't enough "red" from the white LED to get through the red lens.  (or something like that!)
