Title: Cold Weather
Post by: BigDave LM6174 on January 06, 2014, 02:45:01 AM
To all those back east and facing the harsh cold weather, stay safe and make sure you have those blankets on your cars.
Today in Los Angeles, it was 79, but I am sure it was 72 with the wind chill.  In fact, wife and I have been discussing if we should close the window in the bedroom tonight.
Anyway, stay safe in the cold weather wherever you are.  :)

It's 4 below here right now and we're headed for -10 tonite. I have both fireplaces in use and the house is still cold. That'll show me for buying a drafty old century home!

TheNYS Thruway is now closed from the Pa. line all the way to Rochester (exit 46) due to lake effect squalls and blizzard conditions.  Go to the NYS Thruway website and check the camera's out.
The major north/south (Rt 81) has been posted as closed from just north of Syracuse in Brewerton, all the way to the Canadian border, but people are still attempting to get onto it since there are no blocking devices set up along that route.

I've been south during your 95 degree and 95% humidity summers.   8)  I don't care If I look like Kenny from South Park. I can always put on more layer of clothes to stay warm. I can only take off layers of clothes to cool off until I run out of them and then I'm still too warm.   :o

Rt 81 was opened late this afternoon.  According to news reports, Adams NY (near Watertown) had a total near 100 vehicles (semi's and cars) stuck there on Rt 11 due to the detour from 81 and nobody able to make it up the hill into Watertown after 4-5 feet of snow.  All is cleared tonight.
