Post by: kenneth on August 06, 2009, 07:36:53 AM
Hi is it possible to change the front seal on a hydramatic used in Kaisers without taking the trans in to pieces,to me it looks like its possible just to pry it out and tap a new one in place but some people say its impossible without taking the trans in to pieces, anyone?  ???

Kenneth, have you checked the Shop Manual?  I have not so not sure if its covered or not but that would be the first place I'd look.  Mike

To replace the front seal, the transmission must be disassembled. You can try sealing it from the outside with silicone sealer...however...that rarely works. So yes, you'll have a thousand dollars or more to replace a 10 dollar seal...been there...done that!
