Title: dash knogs
Post by: Don C on July 21, 2014, 03:21:11 PM
How do you remove the dash knobs on the Henry J. I know there is a notch on the back side of the knob but presssing on the notch does noughing. Don C

Only the heater 'H' and headlight 'L' knobs are removeable and should come off pretty easily. You reach under them with a small screwdriver or ice-pick and press the tab back toward the knob and it should come right off. The wiper knob just pulls off. The choke 'C' and vent 'V' knobs do not come off.

Choke and vent knobs are glued and pressed on.  Only way to remove is literally breaking them off.

Yes they do have to be broken off and it's not easy to do. Rudy sells replacement Choke and Vent knobs and they are well worth it if you ask me. I've put a set of new knobs in two my Js and they really look good. Not the best quality pictures but I used some epoxy to fasten the new ones and they look/work great.

I replaced my knobs about a year ago.  I saw this past weekend that the C is starting to rub off on the choke knob.  I need to get in the habit of gripping the sides of the knob.  Has anyone else had this problem with the new knobs?
