Rewriting CIRCLEKF.COM -- Wanted to be able to access the scanned manuals and information it contains while in the garage or at a car show from my Smart Phone or Tablet. Turns out it works pretty well from a desktop computer as well.
This time it is all one site ... not a collection of 10 sites. No giant PDFs ... all High res JPGs with smaller preview icons in front of the HIGH res stuff. All done with a web language called PHP instead of HTML. PHP is more database driven and I can maintain the content through the site instead of loading static HTML pages. You might have noticed this Forum is written in the PHP Language.
Be sure and use the filters at the top of the site to expand and/or narrow down your searching and click on the graphics (icons) to drill down to the details you are looking for. Hope you find it useful.

BAD NEWS - I am having trouble with CIRCLEKF.COM. The programming language I use on the site is "PHP" and some of the instructions I regularly utilize to access my KFW databases have been changed as it was upgraded by my host. I will be fixing the site but it will take time. Stay tuned please.
I will notify everyone once the site is up and functional again - if anyone is interested.
Travel On, Jim Betts
-
Of course we're interested!
By the way, great work on the Quarterly! And, hang on to that extra material!
-
Will do.
-
GOOD NEWS - ;D - The troubles with CIRCLEKF.COM appear to be resolved.
Please notify me if you are still having issues with the site.
We believe the basic structure of the site is now functional but we have lots of plans for further functionality.
As there are only so many hours available for development and content expansion we invite everyone to voice where they think the site should go and content they wish to have available.

Been working on content ... The first one hundred Service Bulletins have been scanned and are now online in the Service Dept. Let me know if you need assistance getting there. Only three or four hundred more to go.
-
Added a new MAJOR GROUP filter into the Source document Detail List. Give it a try.
By the way ... Service Bulletins are now online up to 199!
-
Service Bulletins now online up to 299. Appears early 51s must have leaked everywhere!
-
Finished the scanning and posting of all the Kaiser Frazer Service Bulletins (1 - 418).
This I do believe is a complete set all originals except for Bulletin 110 and 111.
Must be time to organize and scan the Willys Overland, Kaiser Willys and straight Willys ones I have.
These collections are not complete ... maybe others can help fill in the missing bulletins for us.

-
Just used the new site to look up part numbers. Great job and thanks much!

-
Jim is always surprising us with new additions from his vast collection. Thanks Jim, you are a valuable asset to our club and we all owe you a debt of gratitude. I hope some of us can fill in the few missing bulletins that Jim needs as he is close to listing every bulletin that was printed and has wonderful information on our cars.
-
Thanks for the kind words Gordie. Moving into the Kaiser Willys Bulletins ... 1954. Amazing to see bulletins with both Kaiser Sedans, Henry Js, Darrins and Willys Passenger Cars all on the same bulletin.
-
Jim, I can't seem to access the bulletins for some reason. I get the page with the various model years but nothing else works for me. I'm sure I'm not doing something right. I'm quite challenged when it comes to computer skills.
-
Great Job Jim!!!!!
-
CarBuff1941 - Once you get to the model Page you can click on the CIRCLES on the top right.
The word filter is trying to say limit to ... so when you click on the DEPT FILTER it will let you select the SALES dept or the SERVICE dept or the PHOTO dept.
The Year Filter will let you select or limit your search to a specific year of production if you wish.
Almost all the photos are click able ... letting you go deeper into a specific bulletin, model or photo.
By the way are you using a desk top or a smart phone?
-
This Kaiser Willys Service Bulletin should be reviewed by all 1954 Kaiser and 1954 Willys Owners.

Just curious how many of us have ever seen this 13 pages of information??
-
Hi Jim, I will try again. I always use a desktop as I'm too dumb to have a smart phone.
-
Added a SUGGESTION BOX to the site. Sign on and vote for the suggestions and development ideas you would support!

Well I have been humbled.
Over the last few months CIRCLEKF has been picked apart by having key elements of the site being deleted.
The entire site is driven by tables in an online database. These tables totally control what the website displays and provide the links to everything that is being shared with you all. Most all of the security is based on your user logins, as my vision is to allow everyone to add content to the site in the long term this online update ability is part of the design. The site has only a handful of actual webpages which display all the information.
Some of the things being delete from CIRCLEKF were restricted to be only maintainable by me. I thought someone was using my password to destroy the site. Who would want to destroy a Kaiser Frazer Website??
Silly me ... I thought it must have been one of you ... NO - it was web robots from Google and MSN. These robots search the web looking for content so they can provide everyone with those fantastic search capabilities. But when they found my pages that maintains USERS and start executing DELETE actions, they have removed all but 30 of you who have created profiles. When they find the page that maintains the KFW Models and execute DELETE actions they removed 80 percent of the models.
In the month of May web robots hit CIRCLEKF 284,511 times and downloaded 12 GB of content. Pretty amazing if you think about it. I am now capturing the IP Addresses of anyone accessing the update programs and blocking them from doing additional damage.
If you have had your user name delete feel free to re-register. As a guest you can not get access to the KFOCI Department and/or access the Suggestion box ... which was totally emptied by the ROBOTS.
Sorry for boring you all with this ramble but thought you might have wondered why new content additions to the site have been slowing down. If you find something that looks wrong or incorrect do send me an email and let me know so I can fix it.
Travel On,
Jim

WOW, for the level of damage you suggest, from what should be a non destructive source, YOU have remained exceedingly calm and direct. I likely would have launched a four letter rant with emphasis and certainly made fewer friends. I for one as a relative newbie thoroughly appreciate your efforts to help those in the hobby and for making the information available, including repopulating the damaged files you find.
Thank You
Scott K

The sad part of this story ... Every two weeks I back up the CIRCLEKF database tables to my local computer
.. These backups went into my download folder.
I also backup my PC to an offline storage device and put it in my safe ... But only selected folders ... However not the download folder.
Did I mention my lap top had a major failure and it had to be replaced?
Restored the backups, but no backup files for CIRCLEKF, that is why I am having to rebuild. :'(
-
Keep up the Great Work on Circle KF. I appreciate all your efforts and will post stuff to the site that I may be able to contribute. I am going to check my account now to see if it is still active and if not I will recreate it.
Life was so much simpler when the only tech thing we had to worry about was how to stop the clock from flashing 12:00 on the VCR!
-
Just added a PART NUMBER LOOK UP function to CIRCLEKF.COM
(http://circlekf.com/filter/codpnsml.png)
You have to go into the Parts Department and give the Part Number Lookup a try.
This function uses a database of over 26,000 part numbers from 10 different KF parts manuals.
All Kaiser Frazer ... guess I best add in the part numbers from a few Kaiser Willys Parts Manuals.
-
Added another function in the Parts Manual area.
Select a Parts Manual in the Parts Department then click on the Quick Reference Index.
You can then select a Major Group - Engine, Exhaust ...
Then you can select a group and go directly to the page in the manual online.
Enjoy
-
Thanks to Steve Carey we will be posting a whole book full of Sales Promoters
http://circlekf.com/sourceslide.php?pub=kf&typ=SP&nbr=101&pag=1
Enjoy this one
-
Posted three more tonight

Enjoy this one
-
Posted seven more this morning
http://circlekf.com/sourceslide.php?pub=kf&typ=SP&nbr=211&pag=1
I hope you find these as interesting as I do!
Moving on to the Kaiser Willys Ones now.

To get access to the KFOCI Dept of CIRCLEKF.COM you must be a registered CIRCLEKF user and I have to check your KFOCI # against the Paid up KFOCI Member list.
That is what I am considering VETTING.
Seven more of you just got VETTED so the KFOCI Department is now available to you.
When You register for CIRCLEKF I have been asking if you are interested in a CHECKLIST and BARTER capability.
Part of my plan has been to allow registered users to create lists of KF DOCUMENTS that they HAVE, OR that they WANT OR that they have EXTRAS of.
From there the idea is to act as a match maker - matching people who want something with those who have extras.
I have been calling it a KF EXCHANGE where no money exchanges but you trade something extra you have with some one who has what you want.
Trying to set the value in of a given KF DOCUMENT in my "Buffalo Currency" fell apart when I had to depend on each user to accurately express the condition of their documents they want to barter with.
I will be implementing a WANT CHECKLIST and HAVE CHECKLIST function in the near future.
You will have to be a register user to use these functions.
Some thoughts to ponder.

Jim

Jim, I was a registered user before and now I'm not. When I put in my username and password it says my password is incorrect. Do you have a way to re-register?
-
Looks like you have figured it out. ... Sorry I was slow to respond to your question.
-
Been reposting the KFW Magazine Ads to CIRCLEKF.COM in the Publicity Dept.
1946, 1947 and 1949 are done.
This one from the Fashion Academy Series is one of the most difficult to find KF Ads.
I would be curious how many you have this ad in your collections? F R E D R I C A
-
Had fun at the Gettysburg Natl ... Picked up an addition dozen Parts and Accessory Bulletins from Steve Carey.
Got them posted to CIRCLEKF.COM. Now have over 200 of them online for your viewing pleasure and research.
You will find them in the Parts Department.

CIRCLEKF.COM USER MANUAL
Took the time to write a user manual for CIRCLEKF.COM
Thought it would help some of you get around and benefit from the website.

In Gettysburg We picked up a photo copy of this 1954 Kaiser Facts book from Steve Carey.
These 150+ pages have been worked over, posted on CIRCLEKF.COM and is a very interesting read.
If you have a copy of this document PLEASE check my work and let me know if there are pages missing or if the sequence is incorrect.

So cool, Jim. Thanx. I have the Aero version for 1954. If I ever find the time, I'll scan and send you the digital or else just send the book to you.

Scanned 27 Confidential Bulletins today of the ALL DEALER type. Not sure everyone knows ... there are two sets one that went to ALL DEALERS and a different series that went to ALL DISTRIBUTORS and DEALERS. Strange but true.

Have to love the TELEGRAPHIC CODE NAMES.
-
Just scanned and posted a set of Advanced Service Bulletins (the Pink Ones). Posted 70 Bulletins. As far as I know there were only 76 of them. the Six missing from the post are 1, 2, 4, 12, 13, and 14. I would like to get copies of these if they are out there in someone's collection.
Here is a link to one of them

We now have the ability on CIRCLEKF.COM to develop your own CHECKLIST of KFW Literature you have or want. Preparing to attempt to match KF Folks who have extras with those who need/want them. Give it a try and let us know what you think. Click on the CHECKLIST ICON on the site to view the HELP display to get you started. ENJOY

Working on a list of Willys Aero Ads.
Both those published by Willys Motors
http://circlekf.com/share_sources.php?dp=nodept&yr=all&pub=WM&typ=AD&action=list_sources
and Published by Kaiser-Willys
http://circlekf.com/share_sources.php?dp=nodept&yr=all&pub=KW&typ=AD&action=list_sources
Anyone wish to help??
-
That sounds like me. I have a list that I've compiled over the years and will send when I get home and when I remember to do it, if both occur at the same time.
-
Thanks for the great job on this web site and for sharing all this info with us !!!!
-
No problem ... having a great time doing it!
-
Added a few new functions in the last few weeks.
You can now develop your own Literature Check Lists.
There is a What's New Section now.
In the KFOCI Dept you can now do KFOCI Qtrly Research. On the 35 online Quarterlies. If I ever get all 200 Quarterlies scanned it will truly make the Quarterlies the KF Encyclopedia.
Now have over 80 KF Dealer News Issues online in the Dealer Dept.
To see these features you do have to register and I will have to vet your KFOCI Membership.
But it will be worth it for you.
Travel On, Jim

Add a few more new functions to CIRCLEKF ...
One off them is a FAVORITE LINKS page use the links icon at the bottom of the top page.
If you sign on as someone other than guest you can even add your own favorite links to the page.
Took a shot at a Post Card list with some help from Ben and Jack.
Almost 200 KFW Dealer News Tabloids scanned and online for your reading enjoyment.
-
TODAY an issue was reported that the lists of Service Bulletins, Sales Brochures or anything else on CIRCLEKF were not visible. "It keeps saying TOTAL SHOWN = 0. This problem effected any user (including GUEST) using the site. Turns out all users who have not opted to use the CHECKLIST Function were effected.
The problem has been fixed.
SORRY for the inconvenience.
I do wish someone would have reported it earlier. Looking in this chat chain you can see the checklist function was installed in November. So this problem was there for three months.
THANKS for reporting the issue GARY.
TRAVEL ON, Jim
-
I have not had any problems with the site!
-
Gordie,
You probably said "CHECKLIST - YES' in your profile ... Those users would not have the problem.
