Title: Ground Strap
Post by: shadetree77 on December 15, 2014, 04:32:02 AM
I'm in the process of buying a ground strap for my '53 Manhattan. I've located a little bit of info on it. I know that it's about 24 inches long and is the braided strap type. What I'm not sure on is the gauge. The only braided straps I can find are either 4 gauge or 2 gauge. I cannot locate anything else. Will the 2 gauge work or do I need to get a bigger one?

Two gauge will work. Make sure it's mounted using the small hole that can be found below the driver side motor mount on the vertical surface of the front engine mount plate. There should also be a short strap in place that uses the same hole and the other end of that one mounts to a bolt attached to the frame. The latter is only about 6" long.

Thanks guys. Just so I have this right, are you talking about one of the two holes in the photo below? If so, would it be the smaller hole (yellow arrow) or the larger hole (red arrow)? The smaller hole appears to be threaded.

The mount hole is on the vertical surface of the engine face plate, not motor mount post. I think I can just barely see it in your picture "above"  the motor mount. The frame mount hole for the smaller strap is just above the yellow arrow.
