Should a 1953 Allstate have back up lights or block off plates in the lower rear lights. I have both for this car. The blanks have the K on them. Are either of these correct for an Allstate?
-
Allstates used blank fillers. They should not have the K stamping.
-
Backup lights were optional on the Henry J / Allstate. The covers/blanks for the Allstate were blank - no 'K' on them.

Thanks for the information. The lights that I have were not hooked up. The wires were just stretched to the rear fender supports and tied in place. I think I will reuse them instead of the "K" plates. That way they will be a little more correct.

I decided to go this way, and here is on from the front as well.

I get a little closer every week.

Look great! My 54 HJ is the same color...well...it's supposed to be. Right now I call it sort of a calico...a little bit of everything. I hope to have it in one color by the national meet this summer.
If you decide not to use the K fillers, let me know as I would be interested in purchasing them.

The K fillers actually belong to my Dad. I will ask him if he is willing to part with them.

I had Do-Ray 451 backup lights in my '53 J for 40+ years. I found some nice 'K' emblems and installed them in 2013. Not an easy thing to find.

The k's do look sharp.

Oh, and by the way Quadromaniac, your car is looking good. Keep up the good work.
