Title: Rebuilding a distributor??
Post by: mbflemingkf on December 28, 2014, 08:58:18 PM
A friend that helps me with my Kaiser said the bearing is wobbleing inside my distributor and contributing to inconsistent RPM's.

I was think about sending it out to a shop that specializes in rebuilding these and has the proper test equipment to set it back to factory specs.

Has anyone used a service they could recommend or am I approaching this wrong?

Thanks guys...Mike

Hi Mike, if it was me and i was not sure that was the problem i would swap it out for another one and see if you still have the same issue.

Mike, I can provide a source that rebuilt one of my '51 Frazer's distributors but it was not cheap. They advertise in HMN.

Most distributors have bushings in them. You could find the dimensions for your bushings and see if they are available from a bearing outlet. Any machineshop can fab bushings for you and you can change them yourself.
