Title: Headlight Switch Removal
Post by: 51mike on January 18, 2015, 11:20:43 PM
I need to remove the headlight switch on my 51 Deluxe. I removed the knob, but after that I don't see A conventional nut holding the switch.  Don't want to damage the chrome by guessing how to proceed.  Anyone have experience with this?

Once the knob has been removed, you'll need to remove the bezel. Look closely and you'll see that the bezel has two small slots in it. Using a small pair of needle nose pliers or a pair of inside or outside snap ring pliers, insert the ends into the slots and turn counter clockwise to remove. It's threaded and acts as a retainer nut.

If you have an old nut driver you don't need cut off the end use a regular metal file to cut a slot in the end, WALLA YOU HAVE THE SPECIAL WRENCH. I USE IT ALL THE TIME, when working on my cars.

Thanks for the excellent advice.  I would never have figured that out and would have wrecked the chrome!
