Title: Porcelin Kaiser Darrin sign
Post by: Gordie on January 24, 2015, 03:57:18 PM
I recently purchased the 12 inch Darrin sign that was offered on eBay.  It seems small for a display sign.  Does anyone have an idea what they were used for?  To see it look for item #161562969212  Does anyone else have one?

Nice sign Gordy, do you think it's genuine or a reproduction into smaller radius?

I haven't received it yet but by the pictures it looks old with rust on the back of it.  The seller was an antique shop and had no other automotive items so perhaps it was from an estate sale.  If it is a repo I have never seen anything like it so I'm looking forward to inspecting it really well.  The seller guaranteed that it is genuine but I was a little concerned about its small size and none of the forum members has indicated where it may have come from.  We'll see!

The sign is old but not as old as you think. It was manufactured in the late 70s I believe by a company in Coshocton, Ohio. I have a Willys sign of the same size done by them and it has the same steel ferrels.

Thanks for the good info.  It came in the mail and is a nice sign but was very expensive and the seller offered a refund which I took.  I'm sure it will be back on line for a more reasonable price.  I offered the seller more than I think it is worth but they paid a lot for it so we'll see how it goes the second time around.
