Good used antennas for the 51-5Ks are almost impossible to find. But, if you look for one that fits concurrent cars...especially GM and AMC, you'll find what you need. A 58 Chevy antenna, for example, is a close match and does have the correct style black plastic mount cap (antenna nut).

Also, Corvette from 1956-60 used the same nut.

Radios were not common in Darrins but for those few equipped, the antenna was just laid loose in the top well. It was not mounted on the car's exterior. The pictured unit would not be correct for the 51-55 cars...they used a long barrel that's hidden under the fender.

I have a used whip antenna that came off of a 54, it looks to be in serviceable condition.  I will ask $10.00 plus shipping. John

The 1955-59 Chevrolet Truck antenna looks almost the same.  It has the same black base.  I found a Speed shop on the east side of Phoenix with them in stock. I can't remember the shop name but they had all kind of reproduction Chevy parts.
