Just acquired 1952 Allstate model 230, is this a coupe or sedan? Also some data tag info. please. Model-230, body-4, paint-215, trim-3496, ip-16, dr-1, tr-2, also what is so-4 and then there is a 2 and a 4 on middle of tag, could be under ki or maybe kt, 4 maybe under rd, but these numbers are down in the middle of tag. body number 2304, serial number 1000225.

Congratulations, you have a very rare car. There were an estimated 1,566 Allstates produced in 1952, approximately 900 of which were Model A230. An A230 was the Allstate four cylinder model. Body "4" means two door sedan (all Allstates and Henry Js were) paint 215 is "Glass Green", trim 3496 is "Green and brown fiberstrand and plastic", IP is "Interior Paint" but no listing of what color the number designates, "DR-1" is Delivery Region 1 which is US, "TR-2" is manual transmission without overdrive. "SO" often meant "Special Order" in 1954-55 cars. No listing I could find for what SO means on an Allstate. KI, KT was also used to designate a special order vehicle so you may have one. Posting a picture or trace of the tag would be helpful.

SO = Sales Order. Allstates were built almost to order and if enough orders came in, a batch was run at the factory under one sales order. Being an early serial numbered car, your SO of 4 makes sense, given that 50 or so cars were probably built at a time. My car has sales order 233 and it's a late 53, just a few from the end of the run. I'm sure by that time, sales orders were probably unique to the car.

Thanks for all the information, trying to attach pictures. This Allstate has no trunk, looks like there was a continental kit at sometime, fixed vent windows, cigarette lighter, dual visors.

Send me some pictures of what you think is a continental kit on your Allstate. I can confirm if it is or not. Also if you are looking to keep it on the car, I can help with getting it back in shape. Note: Fid is a GREAT source fvor this as well.

It's a 53 but I figured folks would want to take a look anyway! This one is something like 4th or 5th from the end of production.
