Title: 1955 Kaiser 2-dr
Post by: ford35rod on August 24, 2015, 01:01:47 PM
I found this on craigslist.  Asking $35k, says he just bought it at an auction a month ago and it doesn't run. No other details.                   http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/5186816260.html

Indeed a very rare car. It was on ebay recently too.  We discussed it on here a week or so ago. See this thread -

Prod Figures indicate there were 44 of the 1955 Kaiser 2 doors made. Very rare car. Don't think it will command that price though.  Even a mint one likely would not fetch that price.  I've told the story several times but my dad found one in small town north  of Des Moines, IA in the mid 70s. It ran and was very restorable. The owner wanted $100 for it.  When my dad looked at it, he did not do a thorough examination and thought it was a '54.  He passed on the deal and then  stopped by a few months later to have another look at it. Unfortunately by then, the whole property had been bulldozed and he found the doors and hood of the now crushed car buried in the dirt.  He flipped the hood over to see if the hood scoop was intact and that's when he noticed the high fin on it indicated it was a '55.  So, the most there can be now is 43!

This is a great forum and always helpful. Jack M. and I are the only curmudgeons on here, so just dish it back to me.

Fid - loved that story. Not for the turnout but just the story.
