Title: 1948 frazer
Post by: Roger on November 24, 2009, 04:20:33 PM
Hello Everyone
I have noticed a green 48 Frazer in  Oldride.com  Someone should take a look at this car. The pictures look pretty good and he is selling quite cheap ($6K down to $3K). I am not interested in that model but somebody in the KF club could be.

Looks like a nice car.  He says that it is "matching numbers."  I don't think there is anyway to tell if the engine is original is there?

My 1948 Frazer is registered by the motor number that is still in the car.  CA up until 1955 registered all vehicles by the motor numbers and by serial numbers after that.

Texas titles also were by motor number.

Yes you can tell about engine numbers.  MOTOR general service manuals have start/stop numbers for engines in various model years covered by the particular edition.  Also, the K-F Shop Manual covering 1947-1948-1949-1950 models indicates the engine number is on the block, above the freeze plug nearest the water pump/generator (front end of the engine).  The information is on page 4 of the book.
