The article infers that the Dodge Monaco was named that because Chevy already had Monte Carlo. It was the other way around - Dodge was using the Monaco name in the 1960's and the Monte Carlo didn't show up til 1970. Perhaps there was a GM show car called the Monte Carlo and GM had claim to the name?
