Title: 49 Frazer rear hub drum interchange
Post by: FleetMaster on April 04, 2016, 08:08:11 AM
Looking for support of Hollander listing.  I have 49 Frazer Std, brakes shot from sitting.  Front done, opened up rear, total mess.  Previous owner butchered drums, cut rivets, damaged holes, and left hubs on, bad clips, frozen adjusters, mangle e-brake etc.  One hub off, other under tension with puller.

Rear hub and drum assemblies: Hollander shows 47-50 interchange Kaiser or Frazer, studs or bolts- is this correct?  If so i have hopefully good ones on a 48 parts car.  Could be looking if not...
Trying judicious use of heat and solvent to free adjusters.
Suggested source retainer clips?
E-brake cables- newer replacement or suggested source? also will assess 48 parts car
Rear brake hose- bought new from one KF vendor- 3 inches short- otherwise perfect, will call tomorrow on that- anyone else find this before?

The drums and all internal parts will interchange between the 1948 and 1949 cars as long as the 49 does not have Wagner self adjusting brakes. Wagner units use shoes with a hole in the lining for an adjuster plug.

If you have the Wagner set up, you can use the more common Bendix style by swapping backing plates. I did that on my 50K.

I think the rear brake cables differ from 48 to 49 - but I'm not near my parts books to confirm.
