Title: Early '47 Kaiser on ebay
Post by: Fid on April 13, 2016, 07:35:04 AM
This one has the "Special" script on the trunk as only the very early ones did. Also no horn ring which is indicative of an early car. It's kind of rare isn't it?

It would be nice to see it get restored. Maybe I'll ask the seller to post the info from the tags.

And it seems to have the "Special" script vertically down the center of the grill, which if I recall correctly, indicates an early 47 too?

This is the fourth oldest Kaiser according to Harold's registry. This car should be saved. And, of course, I just sold all of my early 47 stuff...

The '47s had it but it's not really an indicator of a very early one, nor is it rare on a '47 like the "Special" script on the trunk lid is.

I can't really tell in the pics, does it have a squeeze-trigger trunk handle or the twist type? Also, didn't an early Special have hood struts? Someone call Mike McManama, he has the oldest Kaiser since Jerry's was lost.

When I zoom in on any of the pictures that show the trunk handle, it appears it is indeed the squeeze type

The car is back on ebay. Apparently, $2000 is the reserve as that's what it "sold" at before. This car should be saved - the serial number is 3198 and that makes it the earliest Kaiser extant. There are a few ahead of it in the registry but they're all old entries and we're not sure if the cars still exist.

I saw this too Joe. It "sold" last time it was listed. I was hoping it would be restored. Hopefully it will sell again.
