You bring up an interesting concept.  By that I mean - KFOCI does not need to be in a large metropolitan area. The smaller size of the club means smaller yet more interesting locations can be considered - and have been - such as Gettysburg.  Meanwhile larger clubs are restricted to larger markets.

I have been to Hermann, nice place.

Herman was considered several years ago for a Midwest meet.  At the time there were no hotels in the area.  I have heard the area has grown and there could be hotels in the area now.

I am going to ask again, if 2017 is on the west coast, shouldn't 2018 be on the east coast???   It would be 2019 to go back to the Midwest (Missouri), wouldn't it???

The location at Monteagle Tn. would be good but there are a few drawbacks to the hotel . The rooms are a little small . Especially the bath rooms . There are about 85 rooms and 20 cabins . There are no elevators to the second floor which is half the rooms . The rear parking lot is great for the cars and trailers but can't be seen by the public from the main road . The restaurant is fantastic full of old " STUFF " . A regular museum . The food is great . I tried it . All our meetings would have to be in the restaurant main room which they said we could do . It will hold about 300 people .
WE stopped there to check it out on our way home from the Nationals . It was the right time of day to stop for the night so we got a room and tried it out . There is a large area , possible 5 acres , of open ground with games and play ground equipment , tennis courts , basketball and pool . The boys played and swam will Deb and I watched from a large rear porch that was shaded and had a cool breeze blowing . Real nice .
All in all I thought it was great but I feel some of our folks would not care for all the woodsy atmosphere . I think a regional meet at this location might be a good idea .

Of course much larger area, but not far away is Chattanooga where we just had the HET National Meet the last week of June this year. We stayed at the Chattanooga Choo Choo which accommodated over 135 cars and over 600 registered for the week-long event. We were lucky enough to get a room in one of the pullman cars right beside the drive into the back parking lot where all the cars and many vendors were setup. We watched the cars come and go until late in the evenings. Many things to see and do. We went to Rock City, the drive across the TVA reservoir up on the mountain, took a train rid to the train museum, toured the Coker Tire Museum and Honest Charley's, and the National Towing Museum. There was an evening riverboat cruise on the Tennessee River that we did not go on but many folks did. Some folks went to one of the caves in the area. Of course there is the big acquarium and many restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Tours every day, meeting rooms set up for technical discussions. Big dining room right across from out room where we had breakfast each day.

I like the idea of Chatanooga, TN, lots of neat automotive things to do. Would that be an Eastern or Midwest meet????

In Chattanooga, just as the Hudson Club was arriving, the Graham Club was leaving. The Corvair Club hosted there in 2013 and will again August 12-14 this month and the Southern British Car Club October 21-23 this year hosted by the Tampa Bay Austin-Healey Club.

Doc:

Clarification: for at least the last several years, the local Corvair Club (Choo Choo Corvairs) has held an annual show at the Chattanooga Choo Choo.  In 2015, the Corvair Society of America (CORSA) held their International Convention in nearby Knoxville (@70 miles away).  The 2016 international convention was just held in Springfield, IL.

Doc - I was on the meet committee for the HET Chattanooga National and all went well but was a helluva lotta work. The staff at the Choo Choo Hotel were the best I ever worked with, bar none. Unfortunately, they are selling off most of the parking lot where the Hudsons were parked and probably condominiums will be going in. Parking may be an even bigger problem than it was at the HET meet. But that would not deter me from wanting the meet there.

I also got there in time to enjoy the last two days of the Graham meet and they want to make sure that Graham-Paige Frazer owners know they are welcome at Graham meets. The Graham Club  even changed their by-laws to include all first generation KF models of all types.

Pic is me riding in the rumble seat of a '36 Terraplane in the Choo Choo parking lot.

Rick, Nell & I were glad to see you again at Chattanooga. I'm just now reading your post. That's too bad the Choo Choo is "developing" the parking lot which was a good size for cars and vendors at the HET national. But, I like Chattanooga location too. Good pic.
