Looking for a Carter YF carb for my 134L-head (like the one in the attached pic). Doesn't have to be rebuilt, but I gotta find a complete unit. If you've got one you'd like to sell, let me know and I'm PayPal-savvy, so I can pay for it and the shipping immediately.
Thanks!
Dan

The 4 cylinder Henry J engine, 134 CID, used the Carter YF 820 carburettor. The 6 cylinder uses a Carter YF 833 and they look exactly the same, however they are different inside and do not interchange well. The number is often stamped on the carb and hard to see. Sometimes it'son a small metal tag on one of the cover screws.

Thanks for the help, guys. I can see that it's stamped -722 on the bowl, but I don't know if that helps at all. Good intel, though and I appreciate the help...

Guys--just found this on eBay and it looks as much like the one I have as any I've seen so far:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Carter-YF-1-Barrel-Carburetor-Carb-Core-833-SA-833SA-1951-1952-1953-1954-Henry-J-/172050787341?hash=item280f06ac0d:g:sx8AAOSwFqJWipe9&vxp=mtr&autorefresh=true
I asked my Dad (who bought my J in '56) about the carb and he just told me that it was a replacement for the original that he got from a NAPA in 1960. He said he thought it was a Willys PN, but couldn't remember (that was 50+ years ago!).
So, I guess I might actually be looking for an 833?
-
No
833 is for a 6 cylinder
you want a YF820S,SA,SB
-
i have the
bowl showing 0-722
next to it says CARTER YF
the base 1-648
the side FLAT part says 2g
on the back side of that same flat --- it says A16 820 SB
i show this carb in one of my posts... i'm trying to MAKE it work...
and i'm going to HAVE to weld some NEW/different bracket/linkage to it to make it work...
(i'll test run it before i WELD) if it runs ok i'll weld it and USE IT...
IF NOT well i/m back to SQUARE 1...

Thanks to alohagreen, I'm finally able to mock up this motor! Just got the second YF back from the carb shop, had to do a little relieving on the intake and got everything laid out so I can do the final trimming and drilling. Now the hunt is on for a set of Stelling & Hellings helmet air cleaners to really set those carbs off...
