Title: 2017 convention
Post by: darrin502 on November 22, 2016, 12:25:59 AM
I have been advised that the 2017 KF convention that was set for Sacramento has been moved to Prescott AZ. More info to follow.

That's interesting.  It was voted on Sacramento at the 2016 convention and we were told there was already a signed contract.

I hope the next bulletin notes the change. We have family near Sacramento so this definitely changes things.

Prescott would be much more likely for me.   Nice place.

Lee

Here is the info I have at this time I am sure more info will follow, I think the dates are the same.

I did make one small change, didn't know if you heard or not but the venue
that we had chosen (and it was a great one) is now scheduled to be
demolished this December.  What a scramble to find somewhere else. After
about 6 weeks of trying (it was like having an 8 hour a day job - ugh!) we
finally came up with Prescott, AZ.
The LaQuinta Inn & Suites on Rte 69.  It has everything we want and still
99.00a night including a full breakfast.
Free parking for tow vehicles and trailers as well as every day for our
cars. A nice sized complimentary hospitality room as well a meeting rooms
to accommodate us.  Staff seems willing to "show a some great hospitality
too.   California proved to be very expensive with no breakfast included
and most places not willing to compliment any types of meeting room.
Parking fees were outrageous (sometimes 25-40 per day per vehicle). Very
frustrating!  Anyway, Larry & Steve agreed that as time was running out,
we had to take what we could get.  I think it will be terrific.  We may
(but I hope not) have eliminated some of our Northern members, but I think
those who would have come to CA will come anyway. I know that Bruce Kiser
is, so that's a start. As well El Dorado region voted to not have their
Spring Meet but to support our convention - so we'll see.

Personally I think Jill provided a great explanation and did a great job to save, since most motels used for conventions are booked way in advance.

Wasn't going to Sacramento, but now planning on being there.  Love downtown Prescott and much better location.  Jill always comes through. Thanks

I may be able to bring 3 Darrins to Prescott because it is much closer. Not sure if the members like the drag race Darrin so much.

Maybe Old Toby will actually be drivable by then. Toby and I could use a good road trip.

I hope the next bulletin notes the change.

My apologies to all ~ it was a last minute change & I forgot to update The Grand Schedule. It has been corrected.
