Anybody have a source to purchase a 53 Willys Aero Fuel Tank? Mine has a crusty inside.

There is a person on ebay TOOLSCARSRUS that had one a while ago. He has at least 3 Aeros that would have tanks. Good luck!

My parts book shows 809433 as the part number for all 1952 & 1953 Aeros, apparently superceding number 803105 from the preliminary parts book. 809433 never gets superceded in the 1954 and 1955 parts book supplements, so the same tank was used throughout the entire 1952-1955 run, except for some very early cars. Find one in any junker, bring it to a radiator shop to boil it out and reseal it and you're all set.

I got some Eastwood chemicals for clean out ... going to give it a try ...  Tank seems very solid hoping it will clean out.

I had a radiator shop boil mine in the 53K with very good results.

A friend described putting nails in the tank and shaking it to clean the crap off the inside walls.

I've done that to a couple rusty tanks using large gravel with water, takes a lot of shaking & rinsing but if you're diligent, it works.

There's also new reproduction tanks on Mercado for about $350 US but the shipping would definitely be pricey.

Things are looking good ... I have been cleaning mine inside and out.
Broke the fill tube out  :'(  ... found a shop finally that will dip it and resolder the fill tube.
Been using POR cleaning solvent and Toilet cleaned with acid in it.
Appointment in the AM to finish it up hopefully.

I know they aren't in every state, but if you live near one Gas Tank Renu does wonders with crusty tanks. I had what I thought was a lost cause with my 54 Aero tank and they were able to clean and reline it. That was more than 10 years ago and it's still like new.

I just had my 54 HJ tank done and it was worth every penny of the $275 spent.

I guess you could call this a testimonial!
