« on: November 08, 2020, 04:16:38 PM »
I ordered the filter from Willow Run KF and received a Wick 51010. The gasket included is a slip over of the OD of the filter not at all what's on my lid to can joint.

Kaiser Forum / my 1953 oil canister and filter question
« on: November 08, 2020, 12:13:38 PM »
I have a 1953 Dragon and recently had the oil changed.

I bought what is supposed to be the correct cartridge oil filter but when i took the lid off the cannister the filter inside was locked under a female threaded center tube and the metal top of the tube seems bigger that the filter hole. Is there a trick to lift out the filter ? it is not the same as the supposed correct Kaiser filter. The cannister is painted black with a ribbed top cover. I can't remove the old filter with that large center female tube in the middle of it. The top seems to be larger than the center hole in the filter.

Kaiser Forum / Re: front seat adjustment front or back ?
« on: February 22, 2020, 01:22:55 PM »
Success!! I got the seat to slide back another 3 inches or so. Now the steering wheel clears my big belly.
Thanks all.

While I was in the front seat I decided to peel back the carpet and checked my Hyd trans for fluid.
I had the engine shut off and the level was slightly below full line.
Later I read in my manual I was supposed to check with engine running so will have to do it again.

Drove to the gas station 1 mile away and test drove the car.
Sloppy steering and trans races sometimes from a stop and on 2 to 3 shift.

I think I have a trans leak so suspect it is low on fluid. Little steps one at a time till summer shows.

Kaiser Forum / front seat adjustment front or back ?
« on: February 21, 2020, 03:32:33 PM »
My 1953 Dragon is supposed to have up to 7 inches of adjustment front to back on the front seat but what is the trick to get it to move ? I don't see any handle to pull on the side of the seat on my car and don't see anything in photos of other Kaisers.

I have not yet got a flashlite out and peeked under the seat. Any 1st hand feedbacks ?

I joined in Dec but due to a quirk just now able to login and comment.

Recent buyer of a 1953 Dragon but my mom had a 1954 Manhattan when I was a kid so sorta a Kaiser old timer.
I live in Moline Illinois retired from John Deere here but still work as a Contract Engineer.

I have emailed the 4 local KF members already as an introduction and hope to get to know more of you.
Have only driven the Dragon a little bit here in my dead end subdivision and it needs some work and to be put on a
lift to check out for any issues but all old cars and me can say the same thing.
I hope to drive it to local events and shows as one of these is seldom seen.

I have already decided my next Kaiser must be a real nice 54 or 55 2 door Manhattan with the supercharger in working condition.
To make room in my garage I had to park my minty 2005 50th anniversary T Bird off to the storage side.

The T bird was my chick magnet and so far the Kaiser has only been noticed by 80 year old guys walking by who say 'Hey I remember those kaisers'
