Henry J & Allstate Forum / Seat cover
« on: December 06, 2014, 02:28:24 PM »
Does anyone sell Henry-J seat covers? I've got a 1953 and the seat covers are in bad shape.

If this Henry-J in Arizona on craigs list is in as good a shape as they claim then it's a good deal. The one I bought was an old junker that I rebuilt. I've about twice this asking price in it and it's still not finished.

Kaiser Forum / Re: Strange brake problem

Check the brake cylinders. I had the same problem. I replaced the wheel cylinders and cleaned out the brake fluid line. I also cleaned the brake drums and all the parts inside them and lightly sanded the axle (with 1000 grit sand paper)this solved the problem. I'm not sure exactly what caused the trouble, but doing this worked.

I buy CorrosionX at the local hardware store, but if you can't find it at a local store you can buy it on-line. Google it.

When the exhaust manifold on my Henry-J broke I found another one on a Henry-J that had been sitting in the woods for 15++ years. After spending many hours trying to unbolt it's manifold a friend suggested I try using CorrosionX to loosen the bolts. So, I sprayed them heavily, let them sit for 15 minutes then sprayed them again and let then sit for another 30 minutes. Then to my surprise I was able to loosen the bolts with a small wrench. CorrosionX is a penetrating anti-corrosion fluid that works on corroded and heavily rusted connections. Try it, you'll like it

Thanks guys. It will be awhile before I get the bumpers rechromed. I'm spending my time now on touching up all the chips and scratches in the paint that happened while it was in storage (from 1997 to 2011).

I live in northwestern California and I need to find where I can get the bumpers on my 53 Henry-J rechromed. Can anyone tell me where the best place is to have this done and any idea of what it will cost? Thanks, Bob

I pull a tear drop trailer with my HJ that has a 12V radio and disk player inside. Instead of rewiring the HJ to 12V I installed an 6V to 12V inverter. I works.

When I first started rebuilding my 53 Henry-J the exhaust manifold was cracked very badly. I gas welded it with a  special metal made for welding cast iron. The engine has at least 15 thousand miles on it now with no problems with the manifold. It might be worth trying.
