Kaiser Forum / 49 Traveler rear door stuck shut
« on: December 19, 2012, 10:42:04 AM »
The rear door on my 49 Kaiser Traveler is stuck shut, I have no room to work to pull the panel off and  get to the assembly, anyone have any suggestions. The door handles on the other two doors wouldn't engage the latches and I  had a field day with them also. I ended up climbing from the back into the front seat then hitting the interior of the front doors many times to get them open. The rear passanger door has been treated with spray lube and I have used a small prybar to attempt to open it and I would almost swear it was welded shut like the rear drivers door.  Thanks for your suggestions.

General Discussion / Question about 226 cooling system
« on: October 18, 2012, 12:29:49 AM »
I have an extra 226 for my 49 Traveler, I have not fired it, my question is, does the engine have a tube like the old chevy and packard for the cooling going back to the last two cylinders?  I don't want to attach a garden hose up and fire it and foul the back two cylinders with water if the tube, if there is one, is bad.  Everything else I own runs and I haven't thought about this issue until I was aked about it. Thanks, the reason of the question was the water pump was froze up with corrosion, and couldn't answer my neighbors question.

On November 17, 2012 I am requesting your assistance and cars as an entry to our communities 66Th Annual Christmas Parade.  The tradition of Winslow's Christmas Parade began in 1946. The Chamber of Commerce chose to sponsor an event that would kick off the holiday season and encourage the cititenry to shop local! Drawing residents and guest from all around the state to enjoy what always proves to be a joyful holiday experience. Estimated crowds of up to 10,000 have been known to be in attendance, making Winslow’s Annual Christmas Parade the largest parade in all of Northern Arizona. I thought this would be a great time to show off some of our cars and enlighten those who think a Kaiser is a sandwich. The parade is Saturday November 17, 2012 in Winslow AZ and the entrance is free. Many car clubs come for the event and It is a great way to escape the heat of the lower desert country and buy some of the best Navajo taco's and fry bread in the state of Arizona.  If you are interested please contact me at either MuellerEvansClassicCars@gmail.com or WinslowCemeteries@gmail.com

I would like to share with my k-f family a concern I have about the internet and the Microsoft programs, I have under good authority from some of my constituants that on the 6th of March after Midnight some of the servers provviding internet access and is being used by many of our worlds banks will be shut down. The reason of this , the worm virus that was programmed in to many computers may be reactivated during this transition. This could disrupt computer communications in over 30 countries and could possibly mean inoperatibility of millions of home computers. They might not be able to be restored. It hit the news in my area last Wednesday during the noon news only. This may be nothing to concern us but if you wish to take a few precautions, it has been recommended that your computer should be taken off line, unplugged and not repowered up to accidently avoid internet updates until after midnight on the 10th or 11th of March. The servers being taken down due to proprietary and intellectual property rights licensing will expire. These servers have been maintained by the FBI since the worm virus got activated. These servers were set up so banks could shift their operations to these servers to debug their own and many did but a few have not. Please take some time to research this and if you need to, unplug your machine and wait to hear if the fix and updates are avail. on or after the 10th of March so you don't end up with a unrepairable crashed computer.

General Discussion / Key Codes
« on: November 07, 2011, 12:01:40 AM »
Are there any existing manuals with the KF Key Codes to have keys cut from the vin?  I purchased two cars and I don't have keys for them and I cannot get into the trunks.  Does anyone have any suggestions for getting into the trunks.  The contents of the vehicle trunks is unknown.  I know they are full of stuff but do not know what.  I just hope it is not something dreadful.  Thank you for your suggestions. Parts For Sale & Wanted / Parts shipping
« on: July 08, 2011, 04:03:33 AM »
If you are buying or selling parts, there are many shippers out there.  Some are more economical than others.  I recently shipped with Greyhound Bus Lines and was pleased.  I thought I would share this with you that this is a good alternative for heavy parts and they are insurable. Just my two cents. It may save you few bucks.

Kaiser Forum / Door handles
« on: April 06, 2011, 08:31:54 PM »
I started cleaning my 49 Traveler and i have not been able to get the passanger doors open. I was able to remove the door panel on the front door and was able to lubricate everything and got it open. my question is  is there an adjustment for the door handle. It doesn't go far enough to engage the latch.  I took the handle off the drivers door to look and now I can't open either front door. any help appreciated.
