There is a aution invovling over 200 cars in Jane Mo, on the 71 just before Arkansas. The autin is this coming Saturday, the 28th of April. I went to see what was there, The 53 Kaiser Manhattan had floor rust, and needed alot of tlc or great parts car, but was mostly complete. It has been sitting for a long tine, automatic, has radio. The 54 is a special, with maroon top, off white body, better then the 53, but still needs restored, seemed to have solid floors, tail lights are busted up. I'll try to get a few photos downloaded later if I can. There are alot of 40's 50's 60's stuff there. IF anyone needs parts off one, let me know, I may buy one and send you the parts you need for the price of the car, please let me know, I am not selling, just passing the info. thanks,

Parts For Sale & Wanted / 51 Frazer shifter knob
« on: January 28, 2012, 01:24:33 PM »
I am loooking for a shifter knob for a 51 Frazer. Does anyone have any idea what else woud work? I have seen some knobs made for post war Studebakers and other products, but don't know if the tread and size are the same. I am open to anything that would fit and ook good IF I can't find a NOS or replacement for the 51. Just curious, is this something others have needed and perhaps can be made for the manufacturing fund?

General Discussion / Learn to drive car? What was it?
« on: January 04, 2012, 03:29:43 PM »
I was wondering, what car did you guys learn to drive in, as well as what was your first car? It may be interesting to see the cool cars we learned to drive in. I learn to drive in a 1963 Studebaker Lark, it was a 4 door 6 cyl. 3 speed with overdrive. My grandfather taught me how to drive, then a few years later, I bought it from him. Making this also my 1st car. So, did anyone learn to drive in a Kaiser / Frazer or Willy's?

« on: December 10, 2011, 05:30:57 PM »
I noticed I just went to 49,000 miles on my 53 manhattan. While I also noticed the speedometer started jumping all over the place, not always but sporatically. Do I need to pull the core out of the cable and grease it, or do I put some kind of graphit in it? What expeirence do any of you have on this? thanks in advance, Ron... AKA Orphanauto.

General Discussion / Another Dragon.
« on: August 26, 2011, 02:49:26 PM »
I saw a 53 Kaiser Dradon for sale the other day. I noticed it had a wiper for the rear window. I don't know alot about the Dragons but never noticed they had those. Is that correct? Also, it is black w/black top. what are the colour options for the dragons? I'l try to get more info and a few pictures next time I get a chance to go look at it again, as well as numbers. The paint is faded and looks to be original.

General Discussion / Vapor Lock
« on: August 14, 2011, 01:06:04 PM »
I have had vapor lock problems ever since I bought my 53 Kaiser. I have read stories on people that had this problem, then fixed it, but no detail on how. Am I correct in my thinking, that if I run a electric fuel pump, then replace the fuel line going from the manuel pump to carb more away from the manifolds do to the heat, that that should fix it? I know todays fuel has no lead, and therefore boils, or "vaporizes" at a much lower temp. Any help and ideas would be much appreciated, thanks.

General Discussion / Overdrive not working
« on: August 06, 2011, 02:32:42 PM »
My 53 Kaiser manhattan has the 3 speed with overdrive. When I bought the car 3-4 years ago, the gentleman I bought it from said " sometimes the overdrive works, and sometimes not" It worked everytime for the last few years until recently. I checked the fuse on the firewall relay, it's good. Any ideas on what to check? I am a hobbiest, and don't know much about the overdrive. Also, my generator had went out recently, I got a good used one, and a new voltage regulator, The car is charging, but not much, ( I still need to adjust it ) so, my question is, If the charging system is not charging fully, would that keep the overdrive from working, since it does use some electricty? Thanks in advance for any and all help, advice.

General Discussion / NEW: Tip of the day!
« on: August 30, 2010, 01:10:04 PM »
Hello everyone. I do upholstery, and was thinking of a "tip of the day"  for the club, I am a hobbiest, and would love to know some of the secret "tips" that many of you have learned while working on your KFW products, hence the idea of this new post. Remember this is YOUR club, It doesn't belong to the KFOIC President, or the Historian, or secretary, well you get the idea, this is not my club, is is OUR club, so lets help each other out with good tips. Your imput may be helpful to someone else, so Although I hold no offical rank, just a regular member, let me place a few "rules" to help this out. Don't critisize anyones tip, you can give advice on a better, more effective way, but we are all here to help enjoy our cool cars. Lets see if we can get a new tip of the day everyday. One tip may be for a specific year or make, that ok, we can all learn from them. so, here is my TIP OF THE DAY:

I was making a car cover for my 53 Kaiser Manhattan, and noticed that the hood ornament wants to poke a hole in the car cover. TIP: use a small ( but big enough )  block of styrofaom of the tip of the hood ornament, or some other item, such as a ball like a tennis ball to poke thru the tip, this will save your car cover from being poked with holes in the front.

General Discussion / Manufactering Fund. What do you need the most?
« on: August 29, 2010, 07:28:18 AM »
Just thought I would ask the members, IF you could have 1 or 2 items made ( reproduced ) what would you need the most? Perhaps this will give us an idea what is really needed the most for YOU the club members. I personally have a 53 Manhattan, and don't need anything, although. IF I could get anything, a blank KEY with the "K" would be cool. I would love to have a few in the original aluminuim with a sharp crisp "K"

General Discussion / Banners
« on: May 17, 2010, 08:27:09 PM »
I have seen many Dealership Banners from the 40's thru the 60's, and infact am buying one ( not a KF ) now for my shop, as I try to give it a dealership look. I was curious, since I am only 1 year old in the KFOCI I just haven't seen any KF ones. , What if any do the KFW banners look like? Jack, I am always impressed with your historical knowledge, and was thinking you and perhaps others in the club may have some and could post photos of them. I would love to see them, and think others may too. Thanks...oh, and if anyone has one for sell, ..... :)

General Discussion / Car show
« on: February 07, 2010, 08:53:14 PM »
I am from a small town ( 1,358 population, biggest town in the county ) we have a car show every year on the sat before the 4th of July, the 3rd this year, I would love to see some other Kaiser Frazer products besides my 53 Manhattan there. This is in the southern lower Mo. area. I'm not sure who in the club I should contact, so I thought maybe if I post here, others may get the idea of getting local club members to showup to the local car shows as well, and this would give them the answer to WHO do you contact in the club about local events. Also, I noticed there isn't really a local chapter in my area, yet, according to the club roster, there are alot of members in this area, mmm, kinda curious, what does it take to get a local chapter started?
