The mechanic is telling that my carburettor is in bad shape.

What is the situation with getting a replacement, does anyone know? Can you buy "new old stock"? Or reconditioned ones? I could exchange my old one for refurbishment if there is a company doing this?

Thanks for all the useful replies. However, the guy at the garage has made up something himself to fix the distributor tightly in place!

All he has to do now is bleed the brakes, and I can have her back ready for me to finish off the interior and have some fun over this summer :-)

Kaiser Forum / Got my 53 deluxe resprayed and distributor problem
« on: April 24, 2018, 12:05:22 PM »
Hey everyone, its been a fair while since I posted on here, I have a Kaiser 1953 Deluxe automatic, and I live in London, England.

I had it resprayed red (it was faded blue with the remnants of a cheap metallic blue respray on top!).

I am getting her fixed up gradually. I have a problem - the guy at the garage trying to tune her up says that a part that the distributor mounts onto is broekn meaning that he cannot tune it properly (its running a like a pig now!).

Here is a photo of the faulty bit:

Can anyone tell me what this is please? And if and where I might get a replacement for it?

Thanks in advance!

Giles

I am continuing to have problems with the starter motor on my '53 Kaiser Deluxe automatic. Its been rebuilt and repaired several times, and is still not reliable.

The Bendix drive sticks so it doesn't engage properly, and I end up hitting it with a hammer to free it up. I have spent money time and effort on this unit, and now I would rather just buy another one.

Is there anywhere that sells "new" ones?

Either NOS, or rebuilt, whatever? Even someone breaking another Kaiser auto for parts and has a used one?

Any advice gratefully received!

I just got new door trims made up because mine were ruined by damp and were just falling apart. When I took them off I noticed about half of the metal fasteners were either missing, or snapped on removal. Can I buy a set of these somewhere anyone know? I have looked on Ebay for door card fasteners but they are all the plastic type used on new cars.

Any suggestions gratefully received!

Kaiser Forum / Fitting simple deadlocks to doors
« on: May 20, 2016, 01:53:04 PM »
My Kaiser is parked on the street here in London, England. The drivers door doesn't lock properly, and anyway, any would-be car thief knows how to hook open the door locks.

A week or two back, I heard the sound of my "musical" car horn for a split second, late at night. So I get out of bed, go downstairs and look through the window. Sure enough, some youth is sitting in the drivers seat fiddling about with wires. He must have momentarily pressed the horn button by mistake. Taking hold of a conveniently positioned ax, I step outside, pull open the car door, and yell "out, ****". The kid gets out and I say "leave". He runs away, and just for show I ran after him a few yards waving the ax over my head and shouting "if I see you near my car again I'll cut your f***ing arms off". He hasn't been back!

This incident made me think of fitting a simple deadlock into the door and door post. You used to be able to buy these things everywhere, but I cannot seem to find them for sale online. See picture. Does anyone know if these are on sale anywhere? I found this pic on some web site about cars and security, and I remember around 20+ years ago when me and my schoolfriends first had cars, a couple of guys buying locks like these, and helping them to fit them. But now I cannot seem to find them on sale anywhere!

I got the flywheel today (thanks Rudy Phillips!).

I now need as gasket and O-ring to enable them to put it all back together.

Any ideas?

Someone posted on my other thread in the "Kaiser" forum that it was part # KF #209001 but I don't know!

That would be nice, but a bit pointless, because here in England we also use miles and miles per hour!

It is our neighbours in France, Germany and the rest of Europe who insist on using KPH......

I am waiting for them to take the one off of my car, it appears to be in pretty bad shape, with stripped off teeth.

Anyone have one for sale at all?

If so, please message me on here or email me at: giles@amherst.co.uk

The car featured in this video is now mine!

Its now in London, England.

I recently had it on the motorway (what we call big roads over here in England) and I had her up to 75mph (and that was measuring the speed accurately with my Satnav unit, rather than the Kaiser's rather wobbly speedo needle).

The car seemed "happier" cruising at around 60mph though. And driving at 70 or more absolutely DRINKS the fuel!

This previous owner put lots of videos of it on Youtube:

I will ask the place that have the car at the moment what they think about the state of the ring gear teeth.
