General Discussion / H.F. Houston, Lebanon, Tn.
« on: April 06, 2014, 09:08:15 AM »
I received this email this morning from the Nash Club. H.F. Houston was active in several orphan car clubs and owned Kaisers and a '51 Frazer taxi cab. H.F. was also active in the Stone River AACA. My first ride in a Hudson was in HF's '51 years ago. H.F. will be greatly missed.

Unfortunately we have lost another member of the NASH Family. H.F. Houston passed away April 4th, 2014 at the age of 80 in Lebanon, TN. You can click on the link to view the obituary:

General Discussion / Chasing Classic Cars
« on: January 10, 2014, 07:33:03 AM »
On TV last night, some collection seemingly in California maybe as the guy talked about then flying up to Klamath Falls to look at a Stutz.  But the vast collection had a '51 light gray Frazer convertible parked next to a '49 yellow Buick convertible. They never looked at or talked about the Frazer or the Buick.

Frazer Forum / Autolite versus Delco Distributor
« on: June 03, 2012, 08:53:37 AM »
So, what are the issues with using a Delco Distributor in a '51 Frazer?  If you have the correct little pot metal adapter, do they interchange, or is there an internal interface problem in the engine?

Frazer Forum / Engine manifold vacuum gauge reading
« on: December 17, 2011, 04:21:25 PM »
Anyone have any typical measuerments of the vacuum gauge reading on the '51 Frazer? I believe I have finally gotten the timing close to 4 BTDC by using a vacuum gauge to try and tune the car. Vacuum gauge reads 18.5-19" on startup and then settles in to 18".  Unable to get 19-20" w/o reaming out the passenger side adjustment hole on the distributor base more than what I've already done (about 1/8"). Miserable time trying to get that irritating nuisance dual adjustment holes distributor adjusted on this car. Previous post (http://kfclub.com/forum/index.php/topic,1010.0.html) in March 2010. As far as driveability, little progress all this time although many other problems have persisted with restoring the car.

Frazer Forum / 1951 Frazer Taillight lenses reproduced
« on: July 18, 2011, 04:58:58 PM »
Forum suggestion was to start a new topic on this subject matter since the last was over four months old.

’51 Frazer fans – we (KFOCI life members and owners of four ’51 Frazers) have had the 1951 Frazer taillight lenses reproduced in a limited quantity. This is the basic red lens and does not include the internal clear Fresnel lens (or the bezel).
The reproduction turned out very well using as excellent a sample as we could find to make the mold. One tiny flaw is that one of the screw attachments on the sample had a small chip, so the surface is not flat but there is enough material to contain the third screw.
The lenses have been drilled to match the original #6 screw (3 attachment holes). Unlike the more rigid plastic of the original lens, this lens exhibits some flexibility to it but we have already verified mounting of the lens on the chrome bezels. The color should remain stable as the lens was reproduced with the same materials used for the reproduction of plastic taillight lenses for other cars. The reproduced lens exhibits fit, form, and function to the original and the appearance is the same.
If anyone is interested we are asking $150 for each lens + S&H to cover careful packaging and adequate insurance.  We initially have ten of these lenses available for purchase, but if demand is there, we can have more reproduced.
Jpegs of the lens (outside, inside, and mounted to a bezel) are available via email to:  narweb@knology.net or view photos at the following web address  http://www.orphancarfans.com/frazerlens

General Discussion / TORNADOS ACROSS NORTH ALABAMA
« on: May 03, 2011, 11:06:07 AM »
Just now able to access internet again.  Second worst Tornado outbreak in U.S. since 1927 went through from Tuscaloosa and on up through north Alabama into Georgia last Wednesday. Tuscaloosa got most of the initial attention, but the surrounding communities to the south, southwest, and north of Hunstville were devastated with over 220 homes destroyed in Limestone County and probably a similar number in Madison County.  No electricity to almost 600,000 until late Sunday when power gradually started trickling in but as of Tuesday noon, 90,000 still w/o power. TVA 165' twin towers were bent over 180 degrees like pretzels. Over 200 single 135' towers were knocked down. Destruction everywhere.  Cities curfew continues at night. Eerie looking down the mountain into the city to the east and seeing nothing but darkness at night. Of course when the power went out in Hunstville and Madison, gas stations could not pump because unlike in Florida, there is no law here for stations mandated to have generators. Long lines headed west out of the county and north into Tennessee for gas and then they began running out. Many businesses still not open, particularly industrial types in Decatur to the southwest and the big research park to the east. Redstone Arsenal mostly back on power except essential personnel only for NASA I believe.

Frazer Forum / Gear shift
« on: March 27, 2011, 03:14:28 PM »
'51 Frazer three-on-the-column w/o warning stopped engaging in reverse.  Gearshift does not engage but I cannot find anything broken or binding. No cotter keys missing, nothing loose I can discern. I believe it is the frontmost linkage that should be UP when in reverse, but even when I'm under the car pushing it up, it will not remain up.  There is (and has been) a lot of slop but it's shifted before now.  I am able to slide the two linakges back and forth a good bit under the car but not sure what impact this may or may not have.  1st thru 3rd appear alright, it's just reverse I think.  What should I look for?
