Frazer Forum / Re: Fuel Door Spring
« on: May 07, 2009, 04:09:36 PM »
Yes, there is a spring that holds the door open. The spring has an odd shape...it consists of 2 coils, one at each end of a length of spring wire that rides beneath the door. The spring ends attach to the door and then fit under tabs on the body. Hard to explain clearly here but that's how it works.

Tucker outside door handles are the same as 47-48 KF rear handles. I have one still in it's original box and it matches the KF part. The inside door parts do share a few pieces with Tucker. Tucker also had a novel seat arrangement. The lower cushions were the same, front and rear. This was so that as the front wore, you could swap it with the rear and start all over again. It's said that the 47-48 KF front seat lower will fit a Tucker but I've never had the two cars side by sode to compare.
As for the Studebaker trunk handle matching that of a 51K, close but no cigar. Put them side by side and you'll see that they are quite different.

Kaiser Forum / Re: 53 kaiser brakes

Chances are, the lining material is too hard for the drum surface. The original asbestos type linings were soft and gave alot of bite...but not alot of life. They also tended to fade under repeated hard stops. So, a harder material was developed and that's what's used today. AutoZone now carries KF brake shoes...you can order a set under part number 173. I just got a set and they seem softer than NAPA's blend.

Hello...did you also pick up the Willys Jeepster and Station Wagon concepts that the fellow had? I've been after all 3 for years and I guess you beat me to one of them! Want to sell it?

General Discussion / Re: DARRIN CARBURETOR

The correct carburetor for a Darrin is a Carter 2094S. The correct replacement unit is available...but isn't cheap! You can try Rudy Phillips...his phone number is posted elsewhere on this site.
